What is Lake Urgent Care’s
medical weight loss program?
Our Medical Weight Loss program offers the powerful aid of semaglutide and tirzepatide injections, the same active ingredients found in Ozempic and Mounjaro! These medications promote weight loss by regulating hormones and improving your body’s function from the inside out.
At Lake Urgent Care, you’ll not only receive the injections, but you’ll also have regular consultations with our experienced providers to guide you through your weight loss journey. Whether you prefer weekly in-clinic injections or the convenience of at-home doses with monthly check-ins, we provide flexibility to suit your lifestyle.

How It Works
initial CONSULTATION & INJECTION(s)
Your initial consultation will consist of an evaluation, taking vitals, lab testing*, diet and exercise routine review, and establishing weight loss goals. Additionally your provider will discuss the best medication (semaglutide or tirzepatide) and program (in-clinic or at-home) for your needs.
- In-Clinic: You will receive your first injection that day
- At- Home: Four pre-filled, frozen injections will be called into the Pharmacy located in Baton Rouge for either pick-up or shipping.
Appointments by phone are required at this time. Lab work may be completed at the clinic or a nearby lab center prior to your consultation, depending on the location.
Lab Results
Once lab results are received, we’ll call you to review. Results may take a few days.
WEEKLY INJECTIONS
Injections will need to be administered weekly on the same day. In-clinic program patients will visit weekly, while at-home program patients will administer yourself. (see video for instructions)
CONSISTENT Evaluations
Each visit, you will be weighed in and evaluated. If you are continuing to lose weight, the clinician will determine if it is time to go up on your dose.
MEASURE SUCCESS INSIDE & OUT
Your labs may be repeated at 3 months if determined necessary by the clinician.
ACCOUNTABILITY
During your in-clinic check-ins we’ll discuss diet, exercise and nutrition tips.

Pricing for your weight loss injections will vary based on the dosage and medication. Factors such as your personalized treatment plan, the type of injection (e.g., semaglutide or tirzepatide), and whether you opt for in-clinic administration or take-home doses will influence the weekly/monthly cost.

What’s the difference between Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?
Semaglutide (Ozempic) helps regulate appetite by mimicking a hormone called GLP-1, which plays a key role in insulin regulation and hunger control. Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) offers dual action by mimicking both GLP-1 and GIP, another hormone involved in metabolism. Rest assured, our providers will work closely with you to determine which

Are weight loss injections safe?
Both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are safe and well-researched substances. They’ve already improved the lives of many chronically overweight patients by assisting in consistent and sustainable weight loss.

How fast do the injections work?
It typically takes about two weeks for the weight loss injections to start working in the body. Some people begin to see results within the first eight weeks, but most begin to see results within 4-12 weeks. Lifestyle changes can impact this timeframe.

Do the weight loss injections have any side effects?
Side effects of Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are common, particularly at higher doses, and may include nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea. Gastrointestinal side effects usually improve with time. Your health care provider will work with you on the appropriate dose for your health and body needs. We’re open 7 days a week, so do not ever hesitate to contact us with questions or concerns! However, we recommend that all patients having a possible life-threatening emergency call 911.

How often will I receive in-clinic injections at Lake Urgent Care?
You will return weekly on the same day of the week for your semaglutide injections. This allows us to provide wellness checks, open a consistent line of communication with you, and help you stay on track with your weight loss goals.

Do you take insurance?
Lake Urgent Care does not currently accept insurance for weight loss injections.

Are there any requirements for the Weight Loss Program?
Lake Urgent Care requires that you 18 years or older and have a BMI of 25 or higher to join our Medical Weight Loss Program.
